Several travel awards were available for students: the MSD Student Award for Excellence in Tropical Animal Health Research, the CIRAD award and STVM's 2016 Norval-Young award. Twenty-five DAAD travel grants for Alumni of the Freie Universitaet Berlin from Africa and Southeast Asia, and five awards that cover the registration fee for students of the Freie Universitaet Berlin were also awarded. In addition, the AITVM will hand out the Dik Zwart Award for the best oral- and poster presentation held by a young scientist during the conference.
